Glorious sunshine all weekend saw the Wulfsport British Masters Championship move north to the picturesque Dean Moor Moto Park in West Cumbria. The track beautifully prepared by the Fulton family during the week, and with plenty of water on standby the scene was set. The PAR Homes Honda duo of Brad Anderson and Scott Elderield arrived and announced that they would both be competing in both the MX1 and MX2 classes on Sunday. They were up against the LPE Kawasaki Rider Kristian Whatley in the MX1 Class, and also up against the Relentless Suzuki rider Martin Barr who was coming to ride at Dean Moor for the first time, who also did both classes. A host of other top riders made the journey north and some fantastic racing was witnessed.
PRO- MX1
Anderson took the holeshot in race one, only to be denied it by a false start, so all the riders re grouped at the start to try again, But Anderson this time missed the start, while starting his bike and was last going into the first bend. Glenn Phillips was first into the corner this time and was closely followed by Jamie Law, Lloyd Vercueil, and Martin Barr, but Kristian Whatley was flying through the field as was Anderson, Whatley took over at the front, with law on his tail, and Elderfield closing in on him. Anderson was closing in and a battle was witnessed for quite a few laps till Anderson took over and took the win, Whatley settled for second and Law claimed third with Elderfield in fourth. Race two and Anderson made no mistake this time and headed the field from start to finish to claim his second win and the overall, Whatley settled for second again and claimed the second overall, but the battle was on for third overall as Elderfield and Vercueil battled it out in race two to take the third place, Elderfield finally got it and third overall, with Jamie Law taking the fourth placing on the day.
PRO-MX2
Anderson continued his race wins in the MX2 class by taking both races with ease, In Race one he took off and left the rest to fight for the places, Joe Dark, Elderfield and Martin Barr were dicing and changing places all through the race, and it was Dark who clinched the second place just ahead of Elderfield and Barr in third and fourth.
Race two and with Anderson out in front again and on his way to the overall and a big pay day, again it was Barr, Elderfield, Dark and Tommy Fenwick who were fighting for places. Barr won the war and claimed second, ahead of Elderfield in third, Dark just got the fourth from Fenwick who claimed fifth. Barr claimed the second overall, with Dark and Elderfield in third and fourth.
THE REST
Luke Norris continued his lead in the Championship, by taking three of the four race wins in the Big Wheel 85 class, only losing out on race one which was won by Scotland’s Matthew Fleming, who took the start to finish win, but he hit problems with his bike in race two and took no further part in the weekends racing. Jay Thomas clinched the second place after some good races, while third place overall was took by Dillon Polson. Other riders who were in with a shout during the weekend were Henry Gilbert, Sam Winterburn and Harry Bradley.
Callan Cooper took all four race wins in the Small Wheel class to extend his lead in the championship ahead of Brad Freeman in second and Jack Staines in third.
Matt Burrows claimed the overall in the MXY2 class with three race wins and a second place, only being beaten by Jake Preston in the last race. Ryan King claimed the second place with Preston taking home third.
Scott Mathia looked to continue where he left off a Culham in race one of the Amateur MX2 class taking race one in style, but Ricky Lethaby and Luke Spence were to spoil Mathias weekend as Lethaby took races two and three wins, while Spence took race four. Lethaby took the overall, from Spence in second, Joseph Barry in third, and Mathia claiming the fourth place.
Stephen Tillotson took the overall in the amateur MX1 class after taking three out of four race wins, only losing out to Robert Fox who won the third race. Harry Saywell claimed second overall, while Fox claimed the third place ahead of Alex Smith in fourth.
Kawasaki Master Class winner at Culham Paul Smith had to settle for second overall after the weekends racing, after a great start on Saturday with two wins Smith had a nightmare in the last race, finishing well down the field. James Shaw took the overall with some good scores all weekend, Smith was second and Matthew Williamson claimed third after a better last race than Daniel Parker who on the same points settled for fourth.
In the MX2R class Lee Harrison took the win, with Harry Saywell second and Aled Bellis third.
